Cotopaxi 5897 m. / 19,342 ft.

The conical shape of the “Neck of the Moon” raises up to 5897 m / 19,342 ft. and is the second highest peak in Ecuador and without doubt the most beautiful in the country.

Its geographical position grants Cotopaxi the more clear days than any of the other glaciated mountains in Ecuador.

Because of the high number of clear days, its relatively easy route and access from Quito, Cotopaxi has become the most popular mountain of Ecuador.

Suggested combinations

Cotopaxi is known as one of the peaks with the easiest access. Despite its accessibility, its height must be taken very carefully. We suggest taking into account an acclimatization plan, starting with mountains of lower elevation until reaching the appropriate point of physical and technical condition.

Below is a list of suggested mountains with progressive height.

Pasochoa 4200 m. / 13,776 ft.
Guagua Pichincha 4780 m. / 15,678 ft.
Iliniza Norte (North Iliniza) 5126 m. / 16,813 ft.
